Anniversary of loss of parent may trigger sudden death in middle-aged child
In a recent study of 102 people who died of sudden death, 13% of the deaths occurred on the date of one or both of the patient's parents' deaths. Seven of the patients died on the anniversary of their father's death, five on the anniversary of their mother's death, and one on the anniversary of the deaths of both parents. Hospice care is sensitive, dignified and cost-effective health care that is a benefit of the Medicare program and is also covered by Medicaid in many states. Many private insurance companies, HMOs and managed care plans offer hospice care as a benefit.
